Maintaining a School-Friendly Environment
All of our kids programs follow the recommended best practices that all public school districts follow when stopping inappropriate behavior, inappropriate content from being shown, or inappropriate projects created by students. Cursing, remarks that are violent or sexual in nature, political statements, and bullying are prohibited. Software that we use that has a built-in chat feature is designed to automatically censor this kind of content.
For educational purposes, some minor exceptions are made with lecture videos that are shown. To maintain factual accuracy, comments made by the narrator may reference violence. For example, in our History in Minecraft classes, the narrator would say "1,517 souls on board the Titanic were lost in the sinking." All references to violence in SGEDU courses are deemed safe for educational purposes in a school environment. These lectures are not graphic or inappropriate for young children. This assessment is based on our public school partners' recommendations. For parents of children ages 7 and under, we have recommendations on the age students should be before attending these classes. See below.
Classes with an E rating are for all ages 5 and up. Behavior, discussions, lesson content, student projects, and activities all follow our Public School partner's best practices for identifying and controlling anything deemed inappropriate for children as young as 5 years old.
Classes with an 8 rating are for ages 8 and up. Behavior, discussions, student projects, and activities all follow our Public School partner's best practices for identifying and controlling anything deemed inappropriate for children as young as 5 years old. To maintain factual integrity when educating on topics like history, verbal references to violence that are deemed safe for educational purposes in schools are used during course lectures and videos.
